South African Teddy Bear

Please help me identify this teddy bear. He was bought for me in South Africa by my mom, but I have no idea if he was imported or made locally.

A date or company name would be very helpful.

I've had this brown bear for what I think to be nearly 18 years now.

He's got coarse brown fur, four velvet pads and a velvet nose, but unfortunately his feet were burned by a lamp he was sitting on. His fur might've been softer when he was still new.

He came with the red ribbon around his neck. He has no tags, and I'd love to know how old he is or where he came from. He's small, and fits in both my palms as he sits.

I'm 26 years old so he's been in my life for as long as I can remember.

I named him Bo but if he has an original name that'd be interesting to know too.
Any information you have about him would be greatly appreciated.
