Sad Sacks - Please Tell Me Who I Am!

I found Sad Sacks in a charity shop recently and just had to give that sad face a home. He is roughly 13 inches tall and is fully jointed. You can feel plastic round discs in each of his joints.

He is softly stuffed throughout and has a marmalade coloured plush. He has amber and black plastic eyes and a hand stitched nose and mouth.
His paws are made of a worn brown felt like material and there is visible stitching around the paws.

He has no label on him - cannot even see remnants of one. I have no idea how old he is or who has made him. Would love to find out more about him. Thank you very much
