black large bear

I have a black large bear I got him for my 9th birthday in 1970 all I know is that my.next door neighbours boyfriend was German and when they went to Germany they brought him back as a present for me he has moveable arms and legs his head is on a disc he has glass eyes and a growler when I tip him over. I have never seen a bear like him even though I have surched the internet and looked at hundreds of bears he is stuffed with wood wool. But the only sad thing is he needs some repairs his head needs putting back on as the disc has come out and he has a small tear in his leg it would mean a lot if I could learn a bit about him he also has a leather fiver of eight as a noise and his snouts is longish please can you help me solve the mistary after all these years. He has a story behind him as the guy who bought him was later arrested for being a German spy.

Have a similar teddybear
by: Bitte

I have the same teddybear, but brown. The story is that my brother bought it for me in Poland. Would be interesting to know if it´s a Steiff, but can´t find any information about it.

I would like to know too
by: Bitte

I have almost exactly the same bear, only mine is brown. The story is that my brother bought it for me in Poland in the late 60´s. Have been searching but havent found anything. The Steiff Titanic seems to have longer arms and not the same nose.

Black large bear suggestion
by: Alix

Hi Kate,
I am no expert in teddy bears in any way, but yours look very much like a Steiff Titanic bear.
If this is the case, it is worth repairing professionally.
