1960's Teddy Bear
I received this bear as a very young child, probably around birth to one year. I was born in Jan 1962 in England. He is a pale golden colour standing approximately 58cm to top of ears. Round hard discs at joints. Crunchy sounding when squeezed. He has no claws stitched on but I can't remember if that has always been the case. I feel if they had existed, at least some would have survived his relatively hard life. His nose and mouth are stitched with a chocolate brown thread. His one remaining eye seems to be made of orange and black glass on a wire stem. Legs splay out if sitting. From memory he used to growl when tipped forward but this no longer works. As a three year old I carried him all the way to Australia, dragging him through various airports and quite a few countries along the way. It was every man for himself as my parents were fully laden and so it was a case of " If you want to take him, you need to carry him yourself!" No mean feat for a three year old, given teddy's sheer size and weight!
