1940s bear?

He belonged to my auntie when she was a child in the 1940s in Oxfordshire, but I know nothing else about him.
He has a firm body which ‘crackles’ slightly when he’s squeezed, his nose is stitched and I think his eyes are made of glass.
He is approximately 15 inches (38cm) tall with movable limbs and head. I’d be very grateful if anyone could give me any information about him. Thank you!
